The event, now in its 12th year, will see tractors of all vinatges set off at 4pm from Cuckstool Lane in Fence on Saturday to make a 19 mile leisurely trip ending at Spenbrook.

In previous years the tractors have pulled trailers to allow passers-by to give donations but social distancing due to the coronavirus has seen organisers set up a GoFundMe page instead, with all money raised going towards the chemotherapy unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital and Pendleside Hospice.

Last year's run was cancelled due to a tragic bereavement but still raised £4,000 which was split between the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and ELHT&me charities.

Barrowford milkman Phil Sanderson, who has organsied the event and will be taking part on his grey Massey Ferguson tractor, said this year's run will be a little different due to pandemic restrictions.

He said: "Obviously we're having to do things a bit differently this year but hopefully we should still raise a lot of money for charity and people will get to see some impressive tractors, some of which will be vintage.

"After the year we’ve all had, it’ll be something for everyone to look forward to. There will be no stopping of vehicles, no trailers/passengers and no collection buckets.

"I’m in no way encouraging mass gatherings and urge everyone to follow government guidelines. I simply just want to show appreciation for the public's support over the years and put a smile on everyone's faces."

Up to 150 tractors have taken part in previous years, but Phil revealed that he only knows on the day how many will be taking, with a lot depending on the weather and farmers' work routines.

The run takes in Higham, Barrowford, Higherford, Blacko, Roughlee, Barley and Newchurch.
