Mel Moon made the call this week after hearing reports of people saying the virus, which could be potentiallty devastating for transplant patients at every stage, was 'just flu.'

Mel, a successful comedienne and writer from Burnley who now lives in Padiham, said: "Please stop saying it's 'just flu' and don't go out of you're sick.

"You’ll be robbing someone of life if you pass it on and they’re awaiting an organ or have not long received one.

"We can handle the flu, we cope with help but people with heart problems aren’t getting better from this.

"Young adults have heart issues, so do kids. If you don’t isolate yourself when you feel a tad unwell you are potentially condemning someone to a sickness they can’t get over."

Mel, who was told by medics to self isolate, said that for people in robust health Covid 19 was just flu' but not for many others, adding: "I would ask that people stop being so selfish.

"And don’t think the strongest survive, we live with barely any cardiac function, we are stronger than you have ever have to be."

Mel (40) suffered a massive heart attack just five days after giving birth to her youngest child, Sonny, in 2016 two months premature.

The brave mum was sent home and treated for heartburn and by the time she collapsed she had suffered three heart attacks and her heart was only working at 25 per cent capacity.

Mel was fitted with an internal defibrillator as she is at risk of sudden death and earlier this year she was given the news that she was eligible for a transplant.

Mel took the decision to keep Sonny and her two older boys, Reece and Riley at home to cut down the risk of infection.
