UPDATE: Woman and three children escape Burnley bedroom fire

A woman and three children escaped a house fire yesterday evening which destroyed a bedroom.

Two fire engines from Burnley were called to an address in Conway Grove at 6-30pm Friday after receiving reports a bedroom was on fire.

On arrival, they discovered a woman in her thirties and three children had already managed to escape. An ambulance was called and one casualty was treated for the affects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire. One casualty was treated by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation."
