Tom Howells, Nathan Horsfall and Craig Dugdale, took on the challenge at the weekend, completing the peaks within five hours and 30 minutes after battling tough weather conditions.

All three either started running or increased the number of times they’d run to help stay fit during the lockdown. But they wanted a challenge to focus on and decided that they would run up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent - a total of almost 7,000ft.

Tom said: “Lockdown has been difficult for everyone and we, like many, have found running to be a great way of staying both physically and mentally healthy.

"The challenge was always going to be difficult, but the weather on the day made it so much harder; at some points we had horizontal rain coming at us. We’re proud that we completed the challenge and have raised money for a worthy charity.”

BK’S Heroes was chosen as the beneficiary of the fundraising efforts with all three having friends connected with the charity. The Burnley charity has raised more than £160,000 and has donated money to the Brain Tumour and Renal Research Units at Preston Royal Hospital.

After smashing their initial target of £300, the trio is hoping they can hit the £1,000 mark. The challenge can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/team/Easier-said-than-run.
