Taking the temporary closure due to the pandemic as an opportunity, the trio set to task while, of course, observing social distancing rules.

Read and Simonstone Village Hall trustees have expressed thanks for their hard work.

Chairperson, Greera Norse, commented: "The flooring in the hub and store rooms has been replaced and we are thankful to Richard, Terry and Rob. We would like to further thank the Communities for Lancashire for providing funding towards a new kitchen. We are also adding gift aid money and volunteer time to make up the difference. Very few grants are available to fund materials for maintenance work. So, these have been funded by the Village Hall’s £5 monthly donation scheme.

"Looking ahead, kitchen suppliers will be fitting the new kitchen ready for our autumn reopening. We now have WiFi and the hub is being kitted out with new furniture and electrical fittings as well. These updated facilities will benefit our existing user groups and draw in more users.”
