The Barnfield Training Centre sits on the banks of the River Calder which burst its banks on Sunday, resulting in several outdoor training pitches affected with flood water.

That has since cleared with assessment work being done to gauge any potential impact on the surfaces.

There was no damage to the main building and indoor facilities at the centre near to Gawthorpe Hall.

Stadium and facilities manager Doug Metcalfe said: “Like a lot of properties in the surrounding area we did have some issues on Sunday.

“Fortunately, the work we have done across the site over the past couple of years lessened the impact.

“After the floods of 2015 and before construction of the main building started, we raised the level of the building and that has had a positive impact on the development at Barnfield.”

The Clarets senior squad are currently observing the Premier League's first ever winter break and will return to action on Saturday, away to Southampton.
