'Sign of the times' as Burnley move to replace Turf Moor matchday noticeboard

Burnley Football Club is moving with the times by replacing the old matchday noticeboard on the corner of Harry Potts Way and Belvedere Road with a state-of-the art digital screen.

The new screen will measure seven metres by five metres and will be located on the site of the current landmark board.

Lancashire County Council said that it did not want to raise any objections to the proposal but stated: " There are however concerns regarding the highway users movements both vehicles and pedestrians whilst the screen could be displaying moving images.

"The location of the display is at a prominent location adjacent to a busy signalised junction. There have been a number of traffic collisions many attributable to the lack of appreciation of the movement of other vehicles.

"Whilst the amended submission has been presented with a report from a traffic consultant, there are still concerns regarding the display and the potential moving images."

LCC went on to make a series of recommendations covering the frequency of screen changes and moving images.

Burnley Council passed the application at the end of January.
