The Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it challenges and obstacles that have tested even the strongest amongst us.

But it has also brought out the best in human nature, with so many stories across the nation of people going above and beyond to help those in need.

From good samaritans doing shopping for their elderly neighbours to youngsters taking on charity challenges for the NHS and many other deserving causes, there are so many heroes out there.

And Burnley is no exception. The community has pulled together like never before to support each other through this difficult time.

The Burnley Express wants to honour those people who have become lockdown heroes in the first ever 'Above and Beyond' awards... and we need your help.

Do you know someone who has gone 'above and beyond' the call of duty and deserves to be nominated for the award?

It could be a friend, relative or colleague, or someone you know who has stepped up to help others and been a true inspiration.

All you have to do to nominate them is email [email protected] or [email protected] and tell us, in no more than 100 words, why you think they deserve to receive a Burnley Express Above and Beyond award.

A panel of judges will then be appointed with the task of choosing a winner.

The winner will receive a special commemorative trophy and a £100 cash prize, kindly donated by Burnley businessman and property developer Ian Walker, plus a £50 voucher for Burnley wine bar and restaurant, Penny Black.
