Coun. Bridget Hilton, chair of the council's Health and Housing Committee, said: "This is a difficult time for all, but if you have experienced job loss or a severe reduction in your income due to Covid-19, it can be a very worrying time indeed. Through this scheme the council has been able to support a number of families and individuals with emergency help in their time of need, many of whom have found themselves in need of help for the first time.

“Support has been provided to help meet urgent food and energy costs and, in some cases, essential items such as a fridge or washing machine have been replaced so that families can store food safely and do the family laundry."

Coun. Hilton added: "Many people are having to adjust to new circumstances and may never have sought help before, but if you are struggling, perhaps while waiting for other assistance or think you don’t qualify, I would encourage you to look at this scheme. It may be able to help. The process is simple, requires you to provide some basic information and help can be provided quickly to eligible applicants.”

Details of the scheme including eligibility are available on the council’s website at www.ribblevalley.gov.uk simply search for Emergency Assistance Grants.
