And it certainly kept Burnley police officers busy who dealt with a number of incidents overnight.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police posted on their Facebook page: "A busy shift for us with the pubs reopening. We attended to several reports of persons suffering mental health episodes, a few minor road traffic incidents and parents/careers reporting their teenagers missing as they have not yet returned home.

"We have also returned a teenager back to Newcastle who was reported missing on that Force area and we are currently processing numerous detained persons.

"Three drink drivers have been arrested and residents from an address in Haslingden have caught a male in the process of burgling an address and detained him. Police arrived, took over and arrested him and he is on his way to our bed and breakfast facility at Blackburn. We also had extra patrols on duty patrolling the public houses."
