Police step in after Burnley bus station staff verbally abused by teenagers when asked to wear masks

The appeal comes after a number of large groups of teens were spotted in Burnley bus station, at school finishing time, not wearing masks and being verbally abusive to staff and bus drivers who asked them to put them on.
A spokesman for Burnley Police said: "Many of these young people were carrying masks in their pockets but just choosing not to wear them.

Hide Ad"Parents, please can you advise your children that masks must be worn whilst in the bus station unless exempt and that they need to avoid gathering in large groups?
"We will continue being around at these times and will start taking details from those who continue not to follow the rules.
"We understand that it has been a long 12 months living in this pandemic however we must continue to follow the rules."
Police will also be getting in touch with local schools to pass the message on to students.
