Officers were called to Burnley's Asda store and reminded those at the meeting that gatherings of more than 30 people are not permitted. Everyone at the 'meet' left without any issues.

Patrols were also deployed to Simply Fields, a rural wedding venue in Worsthorne, after a call was made about breaches of social distancing.

Inspector Chris Valentine said: "As the picture shows there were no obvious breaches outside but a site visit was made to check on compliance.

"It turned out to be a birthday party and I’m pleased to report that all guidelines were being followed.

"Plenty of sanitiser, tables spread out so social distancing could be observed and music played at an appropriate level.

"It’s great to see business returning to some level of normality and still following all the guidelines."

Inspector Valentine made an appeal at the start of the Bank Holiday weekend for the public and licensed premises and venues to act responsibly or suffer the consequences of being fined.
