The Burnley Express has unearthed some fascinating images from two historic visits Prince Philip made to the town during his long life.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who died today aged 99, made a rare "royal treble" visit in 2012 when he visited Burnley with Her Majesty the Queen and their son Prince Charles to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. We have also pictures here from his visit in 1987.
