One casualty suffers burns and smoke inhalation after firefighters called out to kitchen blazes in Burnley

Fire crews were called out twice within three hours yesterday to tackle kitchen fires in Burnley.

The first call out came just after 4-30pm to a house in Queensberry Road. Two crews from Burnley and Nelson found the kitchen well alight and one male casualty outside the house suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.

Firefighters tended to the casualty using a trauma pack before the arrival of ambulance crews. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and firefighters remained at the scene for an hour.and extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

Three hours later the same crews were called out again to Talbot Street Briercliffe where they discovered a blaze involving a grill and oven that had been put out by the time they arrived.

Two casualties were given precautionary checks at the scene by firefighters before paramedics arrived.
