Both aged just six, the boys took part in the 2.6 challenge, an event launched when the London Marathon was called off because of the pandemic.

The challenge asked people to come up with an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 to suit their own skills and complete it by April 26th, the date when the 40th London Marathon was due to take place.

He chose this charity himself as his uncle, Ian Grimshaw, who he was very close to, died at home in March but received the support and care from Pendleside at the time.

Both boys attend St Augustine's RC Primary School. Their teacher, Mrs Catherine Haworth, said: "“Stanley set out to raise £100 and within the first day he had to up his target four times!

"It now stands at just over £1,100, a superb amount for someone at such a young age,"added Mrs Haworth, who got the children of key workers and vulnerable pupils who were in school to cheer Stanley on with banners in his final mile.

Connor relished his challenge with his dad, Alistair, and together the duo cycled 26 miles over five days to raise £430 for Child Action Northwest, which supports vulnerable children in the area.

Mrs Haworth said: "“Connor tackled the bike rides, whatever the weather, and on some days it was pouring down with rain but he showed lots of determination for a worthy cause."
