In fact, frightful fun is in store for little scary ghouls and ghosts as they get ready to take part in a witch hunt taking place this weekend around the historic grounds of Clitheroe Castle.

Children won't be trick-or-treating this year, instead on Saturday (October 31st), armed with a map, the youngsters will walk around the castle grounds in search of witch-related objects. Each of these objects will have a number on them, which will be noted down. Once they return with their completed sheets, they will receive a sweet treat for their efforts.

The event takes place between 10am and 4pm at Clitheroe Castle and there will be a prize for the best carved pumpkin. Entry fee is £5 per child and all money raised is being donated towards mental health charity, Mind.

Organiser, Lucy Greenhalgh, the manager of La Tete et Tout, on Moor Lane, is encouraging children (and adults) to dress up in their best Halloween costumes. She said: "I usually organise the trick-or-treat event around the shops in Clitheoe, but due to COVID-19, I have had to think of something different, something that can be socially-distanced and fun too.

"With lots of events cancelled this year, children in Clitheroe should be able to enjoy some Halloween fun and stay safe at the same time."
