For the talented St James' Primary School pupil has so far raised £423 by painting rainbows and other colourful designs on pebbles/rocks to lift people's spirits and sold them on a daily basis on his doorstep in Woone Lane. Neighbours, friends and passers-by have been so impressed with Sonny's generosity, handiwork and enterprising initiative, they've donated hundreds of pounds to support the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sonny's parents, Alex and Amy Steventon, plus his eight-month-old brother, Arlo, are super proud of him. His mum explained he originally only thought he would raise £10, but has now shot past that figure thanks to a burst of donations. Amy added: "After his school closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Sonny started lockdown by posting handmade sunshines accompanied with a hand written note 'A little sparkle of hope in the sunshine' through random doors on the street. He had no idea of who lived in the house he had chosen to post them to. "From this he received a letter of thanks from a recipient, telling him how much this brightened her day and how she is looking forward to meeting him in person once this is all over. This then led to Sonny putting a little craft stall on his front doorstep. He painted rocks and made paper crafts to brighten peoples' day as they walked by with all proceeds going to the NHS. Only a few days later he had raised over £200 and this amount is continuing to increase thanks to donations."

She added: "He hopes to put a smile on peoples faces while raising money to help the NHS in the fight against the virus. His love for crafting is really keeping him going through this lockdown period, which we can only imagine how that seems in a six-year-old's head! He paints the rocks every night and then sets out his stall in the morning. Sonny is an inspiration, his kindness really does shine out of him. He makes us so proud as parents, so thank you for supporting our little boy with a big heart."

Sonny has not only been praised by the local community, but by Ribble Valley police officers, who, while on foot patrol, noticed his doorstep craft stall. A spokesman for the police said: "What a little superstar he is. Well done Sonny."
