Idea to raise spirits of Burnley folk during lockdown hits right note and raises £13,500 for NHS

An idea to help boost the spirits of Burnley people during the first weeks of lockdown, and also raise cash for a good cause, proved to be a real success story.

Burnley's Got Talent raised the fantastic sum of £13,597 and saw gifted young musician Jordan Livesey, who has been blind since birth, crowned as the winner with 3,300 votes after 80 contestants entered the competition.

Launched on facebook by best pals Shelly Heap and Justine Lorriman, the group attracted over 12,000 members who were asked to vote for their favourite acts and also make a donation to the East Lancashire Health Trust.

Shelly, bar manager at Lowerhouse Cricket Club and Royal Dyche landlady Justine never dreamed the competiiton would take off like it did and also receive the support of a range of celebrities.
