Help at hand for lonely and worried Ribble Valley people during lockdown

The hub has been beavering away in the background throughout the pandemic helping hundreds of households with everyday needs and offering a listening ear.

And now that the country has entered new national restrictions until Wednesday, December 2nd, additional Ribble Valley Borough Council staff have been redeployed to the hub to help residents facing difficulties, worries or loneliness.

Nearly 2,000 extremely clinically vulnerable people in Ribble Valley have received letters from the Government setting out what they should and shouldn’t do during the new restrictions, with an invitation to register with the National Shielding Service to receive priority supermarket slots.

Meanwhile, the Ribble Valley Community Hub can make referrals for help with such as shopping and prescription collections to community support groups and offer advice on a wide range of services.

Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Coun. Stephen Atkinson, said: “Our officers have been running the borough’s community hub throughout the pandemic and have helped hundreds of residents. They have access to a wide range of knowledge and information, and have matched hundreds of households with vital support.

“I am proud to lead an organisation that is helping vulnerable households during these unprecedented and difficult times.”
