Grieving Burnley mum speaks of heartbreak that will never end two years after death of her 'kind, amazing and genuine' daughter

A grieving mum has paid tribute to her 'kind, amazing and genuine' daughter after a two day inquest into her death recorded a verdict of misadventure.

Describing her daughter Molly as 'the most thoughtful person I have ever known' Karen Carter said that although the inquest, held in Blackburn last week, had brought some closure for her and her family the heartbreak of losing her would never end.

Karen said: "I still miss her terribly every single day and it is horrible to think I will never see her again.

"Molly wasn't just my daughter, she was my friend and she left a massive hole in our lives. The past two years have been so difficult for all of us as a family, we have gone through some dark times.

"I know my life has to move forward but without her it has seemed impossible at times."

A former pupil of Rosewood Primary School and Unity College, Burnley, Molly, who died in September, 2017, went on to study hairdressing at Nelson and Colne College.

Although qualified she decided not to pursue a career in the profession and had worked at an insurance brokers in Burnley. She had also worked as a dental nurse and had considered working for an airline as a flight attendant.

From the age of 14 Molly had worked for Andrew's Butchers in Burnley Market Hall as a Saturday girl and was popular and well known with customers and traders because of her bubbly personality and ready smile.

Karen said: "It was impossible to walk through town with Molly without being stopped by the many people, of all ages, who knew her from working at Andrew's.

"She was a real people person."

Karen said that Molly was also one of the most thoughtful girls she knew adding: "I know she was my daughter but Molly really did think about other people all the time.

"She never forgot anyone's birthday or a big event and she put so much thought into presents and cards, especially the words on cards.

"They had to be just right, that is how thoughtful she was.

"She was always kind and generous from being a little girl, it was just in her nature."

Karen appealed for young people to be more like Molly, especially when it came to social media, adding: "I would ask that people think about what they write and how they behave towards other people.

"Most people gossip and fall out because it's human nature but once your words are written down you can't take them back."

A big fan of Ed Sheeran, Adele and Justin Bieber, Molly also loved the music of Olly Murs and as a treat she paid for one of her closest friends to go with her to see him in concert.

Karen added: "That was Molly all over, she loved treating her family and friends and she hated to see anyone sad or suffering.

"She wanted people to feel good and she went out of her way to make sure they did."

Close to her family, including her grandparents, Walter and Brenda Waddell, who she saw everyday, Molly also doted on her nephew Harry. and was cle close to her brother Adam and sisters Katie and Darcy.

The family asked for donations for the charity MIND and they also held a collection of clothes, toiletries and other home comfort items for patients in the mental health unit at Burnley General Hospital.

As a lasting tribute to Molly a commemorative bench was also placed in the grounds of Nelson and Colne College.
