Funeral cortege of deputy head will pass Burnley school where she was 'well loved and respected'

Mourners have been invited to pay their respects to a deputy head teacher at a Burnley school who died last week.

While Covid 19 restrictions mean that only a few people can attend her funeral anyone who wishes to pay their respects can do so outside the school in Wellfield Drive observing social distancing rules.

The cortege will leave Mrs Gadd's home in Higham at 11-15am and will also pass All Saints with St John the Baptist Church on Padiham Road before the funeral at Burnley Crematorium at noon.

Mrs Gadd, who was 51, was reported missing from her home on Tuesday.

Following a search her body was found later the same day in the Sabden Fold area. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to HM Coroner.

Family and colleagues have paid moving tributes to Mrs Gadd, including her husband Richard and the couple's three daughters Ellie, Maddie and Claudia.

Mr Gadd said: "Donna lived for her family, friends, neighbours and the children she taught at Wellfield School in Burnley, and previously at Park Primary School in Colne.

Maria Ellel, headteacher at Wellfield also paid a heartfelt tribute to her colleague, describing her as someone who was 'well loved and respected by staff, pupils and parents.'

Mrs Ellel said: "Donna had many close friends in school.

"She was passionate and committed to the pupils and to ensuring that they had a good future.
