Full house for Burnley neighbours playing lockdown bingo for hospice

Horning Crescent resident Phillip Keenan organised and hosted the games evenings, sourcing prizes from his neighbours and contacts.

Philip even arranged pie and peas, afternoon teas and more, which helped to raise £3,250 for the hospice.

The bingo games started on Saturday May 9th, and ran every Saturday throughout lockdown, except one where the torrential rain stopped them.

Phillip said: “It has been really fun and our cul-de-sac has become a lot closer than we were before lockdown - we are now a real close community.

"One week we had 61 people join in the fun, it was great.

"Everyone entered into the spirit of things, whilst adhering to social distancing rules, by joining in and wrapping up even on cold, wet evenings.

"Over the weeks we asked for donations in aid of Pendleside as everyone at some point knows a relative or friend who has used the services they provide."
