Former Padiham high school student wins place at London College of Fashion

A former Padiham high school pupil has won a place to study at the London College of Fashion.

Kacey Reynolds (18) is off to the capital to study a BA Honours degree in costume performance at the college, which is the only one in Britain to specialise in fashion education, research and consultancy.

The former student at Shuttleworth College went on to study an extended level three diploma in textiles, fashion and design at Blackburn College.

Kacey, who achieved distinction, said: “I chose to travel to study at Blackburn College because out of all the colleges I looked at it was clearly the best for textiles courses. The course I did has solid recognition from universities and a positive reputation.

“Throughout my course I really enjoyed learning a lot of different design techniques, which will stand me in good stead for the future. I particularly enjoyed learning about the creation of garments and various patterns.

“Alongside the multiple techniques I have developed, the course and my time at Blackburn College has improved my confidence. I now have a clear vision of what I want to do for a career and what I would like to achieve.”

Kacey added: “The tutors guided us with our preparation for vital work experience and were on hand to support us with our progression ambitions and university interviews."
