Former Burnley care home put up for sale

The Lancashire County Council-owned Lower Ridge Care Home in Belvedere Road is available to buy for £450,000.

In September 2018, Lancashire County Council Cabinet members backed a recommendation to close the care home which had suffered from a low occupancy rate.

A report to the Cabinet revealed that Lower Ridge had the capacity to accommodate 35 older people. However, at the beginning of March, 2018, only 23 older people were permanent residents there.

Opened in 1967, the building was said to be in a poor structural condition, which was getting worse over time.
