Tickets for the First Class Festival, which takes place this Saturday, sold out within a week. So the extra day, featuring live bands and DJs, was organised for the Sunday.

Organiser Madge Nawaz said: "We were only planning to do one day at first but when Saturday tickets sold out in under a week we decided to add on another one.

The venue for the two day festival is the newly opened Penny Black wine bar, formerly the GPO, in the heart of Burnley town centre.

A huge marquee is being erected in the car park, complete with tables and chairs, so that all social distancing can be adhered to. Food will be available and there is also an outdoor bar. The weather forecast looks promising too, predicting sun for a large part of the day.

Madge added: "It certainly hasn't been the best year for events...but we're still trying our best.

"Live music is such an important part of people's lives so we wanted to try and make this August Bank Holiday a memorable one, not just for the music lovers but for the bands and DJs as well.

"The live music sector has been one of the areas hardest hit by this pandemic and it needs our support now more than ever.

"The First Class Festival line-up is brimming with local talent, all desperate to get back to doing what they love and do best."

Sunday's festival mirrors Saturday, running from 12-30pm to 8-30pm and the line up includes Bridle Lights, Furious Styles, J-Bear, DJs Nadia Lucy and Big Kenny and performer Ross Munro.
