Darth Vader and a host of Star Wars characters set to storm Burnley and Padiham

The pandemic has turned the world upside down but don't think you are imagining things if you spot Darth Vader and a host of stormtroopers marching through Burnley and Padiham next weekend.

For the cast of Star Wars characters are taking part in a walk to raise cash for the The Firefighters' charity.

Members of the 5th Legion will be donning their outfits for the eight mile walk from Burnley Fire Station to Padiham Fire Station then back again on Saturday (August 8th). Setting off at 11am their route will take in Burnley town centre.

Formed in 2018 the 5th Legion is made up of Star Wars enthusiasts from across the North West who give up their own time to attend events and functions to help fund raise. Donning fully authentic costumes their arrival at functions always causes a huge stir.

Mick Bridge, who is from Burnley, is also a member of the group that has raised the phenomenal sum of £53,000 for local and national charities.But Covid 19 has led to the cancellation of most of this year's events and curtailed the fundraising events planned by the 5th Legion.

Mick said: "We love what we do and we just want to help bring a smiles to the faces of children and adults too."

The 5th Legion got involved with helping Burnley and Padiham firefighters after a few of them attended charity car washes the crews were doing.

They have set themselves a £300 target for the walk and they have already raised £260. If you would like to make a donation please click HERE.
