The bright and warm weather this morning certainly encouraged plenty of shoppers, young and old, who descended on Burnley town centre and the Charterwalk Shopping Centre, albeit in a much more restricted way than normal.

The shopping centre was enforcing strict walking directions with information barriers and staff helping the public to navigate their way round town in a safe manner.

Many shops, including Marks and Spencer, also operated different exits and entrances for shoppers.

Huge queues could be seen at several shops in the town, notably Primark where people queued from early morning to get into the discount clothes retailer.
