And staff and students at St Mary Magdalene's RC Primary made a balloon arch to welcome back pupils and parents.

Headteacher Mrs Bridget Parkinson, said: "It was a real privilege to welcome all the children back to school today, not just vulnerable children and those with parents who are critical workers.

" It wasn't just the children who were smiling this morning. Many parents and carers have had a very difficult time juggling jobs, children, devices, home learning and the anxieties of the lockdown.
