Christian Ingham (28) has spent the past few weeks transforming the inside of the Burnley Road establishment, which for 14 years was home to JJ's Diner.

JJ's re-located to the Dugdale Arms building last year, and Christian said he wanted the family-run Ingham's Diner to build on the legacy it had left behind.

"When we heard they were leaving we kept waiting for the building to come on the market, but it never did. Eventually, I got a tip-off from somebody that the guy who owned the building lived nearby. So I popped a letter through his door, and here we are.

"We're not looking to re-invent the wheel, but we'll be putting our own stamp on it. We've changed a lot of the inside, so it does look different. We're also going to look at having outside seating. There's plenty of potential."

Christian, who has been a chef since he was 17, said he will open his doors "as soon as they let us". And he wants to focus on quality food for the right price.

"My background is in grilling, and classic British food. We won't be straying away from pies or the classic cafe menu, but we want to create a real dining experience.

"One thing we will be focusing on is a proper full English breakfast; a high-quality breakfast, but at a fair price."
