Clitheroe Toy Appeal: As deadline nears, can you bring some festive cheer to a child this Christmas?

With just days left to drop off toys, organisers of this year's toy appeal have issued a renewed plea in a bid to help the underprivileged this festive season.

As reported previously, The Clitheroe Advertiser and Times and the Ribble Valley branch of the Salvation Army teamed up last month to launch their annual appeal to help families and children who might otherwise go without this Christmas.

For the 17th year running, the generosity of Valley residents has once again been called upon to help families less fortunate than themselves. And kind-hearted local people have failed to disappoint with dozens of brand new toys donated to help the poor.

The deadline for toy donations is Friday (December 18th). Capt Elizabeth Smith, of The Clitheroe Salvation Army, said: "People have been amazingly generous and kind. We have had beautiful gifts. There will be some big smiles on Christmas morning, and a huge sense of relief for parents.

“Thank you to all who have given, in cash or kind. Every gift, large or small, makes up the whole. We cannot name every person who has given, but please accept our grateful thanks on behalf of parents, carers, and agencies. We could not do what we do without the support of our wonderful community. You are awesome."

She added: "We will start to deliver toys next week and hope to have the appeal completed by the end of the week. People can still drop toys off until Friday and we are also accepting emergency referrals from agencies and families in need.”

For people wishing to donate toys, they can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 31/31A, Lowergate, Clitheroe (The old Job Centre) Monday to Friday between 10am to 12-30pm. Only new toys accepted.
