Burnley superstore announces changes to opening times as it copes with demand from shoppers during coronavirus crisis

A Burnley supemarket has announced a change in opening times as it copes with the extra demand from shoppers who have been panic buying in respoinse to the coronavirus outbreak.

A spokesman for Tesco Extra at Centenary Way, which normally opens 24 hours, said: "We will be closing tonight at 10pm and opening again at 6am in the morning so we can focus on getting as much stock out as we can.

"This will be our temporary opening hours for the next few weeks. Sunday opening hours remain 10am to 4pm."

The spokesman thanked everyone for their 'patience and understanding' adding:" We are in scary, changeable times...please know we are trying really hard to help everyone get what they need.

"Sending huge amounts of love to the whole Burnley community."
