Burnley care home manager celebrates milestone birthday in 'dream job'

A Burnley care home manager was treated to a surprise socially distanced tea party for her 40th birthday.

Catherine Brierley, HC-One’s Dove Court manager, was joined by colleagues outside in the garden for sandwiches, cakes and presents to celebrate her memorable milestone.

Catherine, who is commonly known around the home as ‘Cat’, started working at Dove Court as a carer in Robin House.

She moved to wellbeing coordinator before heading off to UCLan to gain her nursing degree.

Returning to Dove Court to work as a nurse on night shifts, Cat went on to become unit manager of Robin house.

She later became clinical services manager, and then for a short spell managed HC-One’s Oldgates care home. Soon after, she was appointed Dove Court manager.

Cat was overwhelmed by the effort everyone had gone to for her special birthday, saying: “It was a lovely surprise and a lovely day. It was my ambition to one day

manage Dove Court and here I am”.
