With the landlords of The Angel Inn in Burnley and The Waterloo Inn in Bacup being firm friends, a good-hearted charity walk has been organised with the first leg from Burnley to Bacup set to take place on Saturday 12th September at 2pm and the return leg to take place on Saturday 3rd October at 2pm.

There is a £10 entry fee for the event and people are encouraged to wear fancy dress if they please, while there will also be fundraising options in the form of sponsorship forms and collection buckets on the bars at both establishments.

"Obviously the challenge is to raise as much money as possible, but I am sure with the friendly rivalry between the two towns it will reach fever pitch and neither would like to be outdone by numbers on the walk," said organiser Ian Chapman.

Unfortunately, due to the route incorporating paths which are near roads, under-16s will not be admitted to the event, while the route will be marshaled by people in high-viz and first aid will also be on offer if needed. Both pubs are observing government guidelines on social distancing and both have large beer gardens to accommodate the event.
