Blind musician Jordan is the pride and joy of the town as he is crowned winner of Burnley's Got Talent

Jordan Livesey won the title, with an incredible 3,300 votes, after he performed his own version of the Robert Miles song, Children, on his keyboard.

Surprised and thrilled with his success Jordan said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard the news because all the other contestants were so good.

"But it is such a great feeling and I would like to say thank you to everyone who watched me and voted for me."

And the first thing this amazing and creative young man did after he found out he had won was to donate half his £200 prize money back into the charity pot which today stands at an incredible £12,000 for the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

And the sky is the limit for Jordan whose motto is 'There is no fame without aim.'

Competition organiser Shelly Heap said: "This young man melted the hearts of thounsands of people with his amazing story.

"What an incredible journey this has been for Jordan. I think we can see from the response that he deserved to win."

Jordan's proud mum Emma Hughes said her son could not believe how much support he had received and how many people voted for him to win.

She said: "We can't go to the supermarket without someone coming up to congratulate Jordan and say how much they enjoyed his performances.

"We have a big family and this has been such an emotional time for us all but now it feels like Jordan can follow his dream with his music."

And family friend, Anthony Craig, who is also a musician, DJ and singer, has promised to create a studio for Jordan where he can rehearse and work towards releasing a CD of his music in the future.

As part of his prize, Jordan, who attends Blackburn College one day a week, will have the chance to perform on stage at Burnley Live in 2021. He has also been asked to perform at a couple of charity events in the future.

Jordan, who is also on the autistic spectrum, was diagnosed as being blind when he was just five months old.

But that has never stopped him from pursuing his love of music which he has shown a talent for from being young.

He loves R and B, country and soul music but lists classical as his favourite genre with Mozart as his favourite composer.

Jordan's prized possessions are his Yamaha keyboards and he is a real keyboard enthusiast and expert on the subject.

Emma said: "Jordan can listen to a tune once then he goes upstairs and starts to practise it on his keyboard.

"He is completely self taught. It may take a few goes but he just seems to have a feel for the notes."

Jordan was in in his third year of studying music at Blackburn College but had to leave as much of the course was visual so he struggled to cope.

Jordan, lives with his mum, dad Steve Hughes, sister Bethany (18), brother Declan who is 20 and his cousin Brandon Livesey who is 16.

With his cheeky charm, Jordan was a favourite in the competition right from the start, even winning praise from fellow contestants.

Dad Steve said: "This competition has been the best thing to happen to Jordan, it has really boosted his confidence for him to know that people like his music and for us to see how good he is.

"I am not ashamed to say I haven't stopped crying since Sunday, it has been overwhelming but I want to thank everyone, from the competition admins who have been superb, to the people who watched and voted and all the other contestants who were actually rooting for Jordan to win."

The runners up were Lacey Byker and Hannah McGrail who will be invited to perform at the Survived Lockdown Festival 2020 hosted by Brierfield Working Men's Club in November.

Shelly organised the competition with her best pal, Justine Lorriman who is landlady at the Royal Dyche pub in Burnley.

Both Shelly, who is bar manager at Lowerhouse Cricket Club, and Justine donated the prize money along with DJs Kev Riley and Gaz Ali and local businessman Liam Kilbride.

Shelly and Justine came up with the idea as their annual Good Friday sponsored walk and pub crawl was cancelled due to the pandemic.

From the original 64 contestants who entered there were 10 finalists who performed by uploading videos of their acts to the Burnley's Got Talent facebook group which now has almost 14,000 members. 'Likes' were then counted as votes and viewers were also asked to make a donation at the same time.

Kev and Gaz played live sets to provide entertainment along with a host of other DJs and singers througbout the competition which was also backed by a host of celebrites, including Jay Rodriguez and Burnley cricketing legend James Anderson.
