£200 donated for local kids to try gardening
Towneley for the People have presented Friends of Towneley volunteer gardeners with a cheque for £199.49 to buy bulbs for local children to plant.
Ian Galbaith, Chairman of Towneley for the People, said: “The money was raised by the people of Burnley to fight two planning applications which threatened Towneley Park, Burnley’s jewel in the crown. We felt it was time it was put to good use. We were impressed by the Friends of Towneley and felt they would use the money in ways that those who had donated to protect the park would approve.”
