An anonymous benefactor was so impressed with how many books children at a primary school have read they made a £1,000 donation to buy more.

Pupils at Read St John's CE Primary have been working their way though hundreds of books during lockdown using ActivLearn Primary, which they can log into to access a selection of different ones.
Student Annie Hawthorne has read her way through 132 books. Bookworm Annie chose books that she enjoys and also stories she could read to her new baby brother Max.
