Pendleton man in court for kicking wife on backside

A PENDLETON man kicked his estranged wife on the backside during a doorstep row.

Blackburn magistrates heard the assault was witnessed by two of the couple’s children and 41-year-old Andrew Milligan had two previous police cautions for assaults on his wife.

Milligan, of Higher Standen Hey Farm, Whalley Road, admitted assaulting Michaela Milligan at her home in Sabden in November. He was made subject to an electronically monitored curfew for six weeks between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The magistrates allowed three relaxations of the curfew to allow Milligan to travel as part of his job as an account manager for BT.

Mr Scott Parker (defending) said Milligan had been entertaining at home when he got a phone call from his son, who had left his mother’s home. He had to go and pick the boy up and take him home.

“On the doorstep both parties engaged in a verbal discussion about what had gone on and this became heated,” said Mr Parker. “He says it was more of a push with the sole of his shoe that a kick.”
