Pendle Triathlon places filling up fast

MORE than half of the places available for this year’s Pendle Triathlon have already been taken!

With a total of 180 places up for grabs, more than 100 competitors have signed up to take part in this popular annual event – and there are still two months to go!

This year’s triathlon takes place on Sunday, April 29th.

Centre Manager at West Craven Sports Centre Paul Whittaker said: “This time last year only 45 people had signed up to compete. This year we already have 100! This has to be the fastest-selling Pendle Triathlon we have ever had!

“Also this year, we want to create a bit more of a buzz along the route and encourage spectators to turn out and cheer on the competitors.

“To do this, we will be providing free sports-based activities for children aged between four and 13 in the sports hall, which will enable parents to watch, while their children are being supervised and entertained under the watchful eye of the trust’s Sports Development Team.”

One of the fastest growing competitive sports in the country, contestants take part in the three disciplines in a test of stamina, strength and determination in and around West Craven Sports Centre.

Following the official format of swimming, cycling and running, this non-transitional event will comprise of swimming 750m and cycling 22km - completing two circuits of the course which covers Salterforth, Kelbrook, Sough, Earby and Thornton-in-Craven.
