Pendle Pub Walk’s £49,000 boost for hospice

This year’s Pendle Pub Walk, organised by the Rotary Club of Burnley Pendleside, looks set to raise more than £50,000 for Pendleside Hospice.

A bumper cheque for more than £49,000 was presented to representatives from Pendleside Hospice at a special club evening last Wednesday.

The chief executive of Pendleside Hospice, Helen McVey, praised the efforts of the club and of the 1,100-plus walkers who completed the walk in June.

She said the Pendle Pub Walk was the second biggest fund-raising event after the annual Light Up A Light Appeal.

The cheque was presented to hospice fund-raising manager Christina Cope and Helen McVey by club president Kevin Martin and organisers Grahame and Paul Trudgill.
