Jake John Ashworth (21), of Eastern Avenue, and Guljamal Din (31), of Claughton Street, both Burnley, are charged with fraud by false representation. It is alleged that, on or between September 27th and October 23rd last year, they carried out sub-standard work with disproportionate costs, intending to gain £9,340.

Prosecutor Andrew Robinson alleged an expert had reported the work done for the 72-year-old should have cost £400 at the most.

The defendants will have their case heard at Burnley Crown Court and were granted unconditional bail until a hearing there on April 13th.
