The 31-year-old singer performed Beyonce’s “Listen” on the live semi-final show of the hit ITV talent show.

He is East Lancashire’s last hope of glory after Burnley dancer Steph Morville’s burlesque group bowed out of the competition.

But Andrew’s performance got a mixed reception from the star-studded panel of judges

Comedian David Walliams gave Andrew a standing ovation and proclaimed “I absolutely loved it”, adding “what other man could you imagine carrying off a Beyonce song like that.”

But the performance failed to hit the right note with his fellow judges. Pop star Alesha Dixon told Andrew his song was “shaky and pitchy” and said he could have done better.

But the most scathing comments came from Simon Cowell who said it sounded like he was being “strangled”, adding “I think you have blown your chance of being in the final” which was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Now it will be up to the Great British public to vote to keep his hopes alive of singing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.
