Despite headteacher Mrs Sinead Baker having only occupied the position for less than a year, St Augustine's RC Primary School has received a glowing report from the Church authorites.

The school was inspected by Diocese of Salford officials Brendan Hennessy and Anne Heard in March, five years after it received another ‘outstanding’ report.

Key areas of strength at the school included the spiritual leadership of the ‘inspirational’ headteacher and staff, the outstanding confidence of the children in expressing their enthusiasm for learning, the commitment to creating a nurturing school, the affirmative atmosphere engendering a sense of teamwork and the focus on the virtues of respect and dignity.

The report described the school as a “vibrant and inclusive community where the happy, confident children thrive as they learn, play and pray together,” while the “friendly, well-mannered and extremely well-behaved children have an excellent attitude to learning and are very proud of their school.”

Headteacher Mrs Baker said: “This fantastic report is a result of the commitment and dedication of our pupils, parents, staff, governors Father Haworth and the parish to make St Augustine’s the special place it is.
