‘Outstanding’ rating for Nelson & Colne College

The latest figures from the specialist report show the college is outstanding in its A Level, AS Level and BTEC Level 3 provision, based on its latest set of results, adding to its existing “outstanding” grade from Ofsted.

The ALPS report focuses on value added performance and shows that NCC students regularly achieve better than their predicted grades.

Reports have been given to 1,480 schools, sixth form colleges and further education colleges across the country – making NCC’s achievements even more remarkable.

Nelson and Colne College Principal Amanda Melton said: “I am so proud that the exceptional teaching and learning standards at Nelson and Colne College have once again been recognised in the latest ALPS report.

“At NCC we are committed to helping top students reach their full potential, while ensuring those who have not done as well as they had hoped at GCSE surpass expectations.

“The fact we have broken our already outstanding records in this set of results is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students who regularly go above and beyond to achieve success.”

Nelson and Colne College has a fantastic track record of helping students achieve their best – and this year it was once again celebrating a 100% pass rate in both A Level and Vocational studies.

Twins Bethany and Courteney Cowgill arrived at Nelson and Colne College with no qualifications but both left with distinctions in their BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, while star A Level student Charles Choyce managed to achieve four A* grades and land a dream place at the University of Warwick.
