Why does the UK turn to violence?

It is disappointing that none of your regular politically-motivated correspondents have considered Joan West’s letter worth a reply.

It is tragic that a country such as ours resorts to violence so readily. Why is there such a difference between what we advocate for individual disputes, where using one’s fists to settle an argument is a punishable offence, and how we respond to perceived threats?

I would be prouder of our country if we sometimes heard our diplomats had helped to diffuse a tense situation than that our military could respond with deadly force to a situation thousands of miles away.
