We’re stuck in middle of ‘Bypss Hokey Cokey’

Having read in your paper that County Couns Ali and Fillis say there is to be no U-turn on their bypass proposal, it was with interest I read on the same day in another media outlet there was to be a U-turn.

These people need to provide clarity once and for all. In your paper they report it won’t be a rushed job, providing an almost open timescale. They’d previously said it would be done quickly.

For the sake of people living in Foulridge, Higherford and Blacko, it is about time they stopped messing around and playing the “Bypass Hokey Cokey”. It would seem to me County Coun. Ali has got himself caught like a rabbit in the headlights, and doesn’t know which way to turn.

One Labour U-turn I do welcome, however, is the decision to cancel the proposed cuts to bus services, at least in the interim. These would have affected rural and vulnerable communities the most, and I am glad they have realised they completely misjudged the public mood.
