Tracing the history of primary school

I am a former pupil of St Michael and St John’s, Clitheroe (from 1989 until 1996) and wondered whether any readers might be able to assist me with a project.

I am currently doing some personal research into the history of the school, inspired by a history project I did in my final term there, with the intention of eventually publishing a short booklet.

The period of history I am looking at is 1820 to the 1950s/1960s. I am trying to find out more about the staff who worked there, the history of the building or any general recollections of school life.

I understand that, in the early part of this period, the school building stood close to the site of today’s social centre.

I intend to acknowledge all resources and quotations carefully in the finished work. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who feels able to assist me, and can be contact by e-mail at [email protected] as well as the following address.

Kate Hurst,
