Tour of First World War battle sites

Each year the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Battlefield tours organise pilgrimages to the battle areas of the First World War. The tours are in August and September, covering France and Belgium.

This year we plan to visit the Somme battlefield, the Ypres Salient, Arras, Vimy Ridge and Loos battlefield area, if requested. 2015 is the centenary of the second battle of Ypres and also the battle of Loos.

The trips specialise in visiting specific cemeteries or memorials as and when they are requested and an experienced guide will accompany each trip to commentate on the various battles and the many historic events that occurred in the areas we visit. We can also assist people who wish to trace war graves dating from the First World War.

KOYLI Battlefield Pilgrimages is a not-for-profit organisation.

It was formed as a charitable hobby in 1990 by ex-servicemen who have many years of practical experience conducting visits to the First World War areas of France and Flanders, and we support a variety of ex-service charities and institutions.

The trips are open to anyone who might be interested.

We welcome all enquiries to the address below and ask only for a medium-sized SAE for all postal replies. Alternatively, ring 01977 734614.
