Today’s Labour party out of touch

She appears to be the only person in the western hemisphere impressed by Ed Milliband’s speech, as he “forgot” to mention the Budget deficit and immigration, and promised a “ 10 year plan”, a phrase last heard from leaders of the former Soviet Union.

Far from being on the side of hard working families, Labour are completely out of touch, run by a collective of professional London based politicians.

Chuka Umunna, their industry spokesman ( privately educated millionaire’s son ) quoted the price of a first class stamp as 36p only weeks ago (62p), and Rachel Reeves, their pensions spokeswoman, did not even know what the basic state pension paid.

I grew up admiring the great Labour figures such as Ernie Bevin and Tony Crosland, who were steeped in the tradition of the founders of the Labour party, representing the working men and women of this country.

I shudder to think what they would make of today’s Labour. Shallow, image obsessed, unfit to govern and totally divorced from the concerns of ordinary hard-working voters.
