Thanks to everyone for making a great Carers’ Week

Here in Ribble Valley we would like to pay tribute to the selfless work undertaken by carers of all ages whose work looking after a family member at home often goes unnoticed.

Crossroads Care is well aware of the contribution made by these dedicated people, and their trained Care Support Workers give regular respite visits to carers known to them.

This help enables carers and their loved ones to remain in their own homes in the community.

Several events were held in the area, and to start the week there was a wonderfully artistic display arranged by one of the trustee’s wives, in a shop window depicting the work undertaken by the charity and we are particularly grateful to Mortimers for allowing the use of the window.

Also, there was a street collection on Tuesday, where collectors were joined by a very content and laid-back Duggie, a ram normally residing at Horrocksfold Bank Farm, but equally happy to be walking the streets of Clitheroe with his “Carer”.

Taking place on Friday and Saturday was a collection in the Sainsbury’s Supermarket by kind permission of the management.

Our thanks to the staff of Sainsbury’s who were most helpful and welcoming to those standing for long periods of time collecting.

The Trustees of Crossroads were very fortunate in having the support of both Ribblesdale and Clitheroe Rotary Clubs who participated in helping with the collections.

Crossroads Care would like to thank everyone for the generous donations which make them able to expand the service, including providing additional group activities to benefit people not receiving specific help.
