Requesting Legal Aid would be futile

Having been acquitted in a jury trial, Nigel Evans seeks to be recompensed by the state for his legal fees.

He boasted he did not request Legal Aid. This request would have been futile on two counts: 1) this government has removed recompense to those acquitted, and 2) this government has denied Legal Aid even to people on a fraction of the income of Nigel Evans, no matter how innocent or unjustly accused they may be.
